The Prague, Czech Republic native entered the league in 2005 as a sixth round pick (No. 187 overall) out of Stanford, where he played defensive end and tight end.
He converted to offensive tackle right out of the gate as a rookie in Kansas City, and went on to spent the majority of his NFL career as a swing tackle, appearing in 79 contests (21 starts) with the Chiefs (2005-07), Falcons (2009-12), Patriots (2013), Bengals (2014), and most recently, the Tennessee Titans (2014).
He also spent the 2006 offseason playing in NFL Europe, helping the Frankfurt Galaxy win the World Bowl title.
“During the offseason, I have always taken advantage of different educational opportunities to complement my Stanford degree,” Svitek wrote on his LinkedIn page. “I am interested in pursuing a career in real estate and business/entrepreneurship now that I am recently retired from the NFL.”
Svitek also spoke on the “Defining Success” panel last summer at the NFL Rookie Symposium.
